IMMIGRATION Minister Kevin Andrews has inflamed tensions with the African community by releasing a dossier claiming African refugees were involved in gangs, nightclub fights and drinking alcohol in parks at night.
Prime Minister John Howard yesterday said it was "contemptible" to suggest the Government was playing the race card, after this week's furore over Mr Andrews linking the drastic cut in African refugees to the failure of the Sudanese to integrate.
The Justice Minister, David Johnston, yesterday visited Noble Park to talk to Sudanese community leaders and police, while Mr Andrews visited Dandenong's Migration Resource Centre on Wednesday.
But African groups claimed the Government further ignited the race debate yesterday by releasing unsubstantiated claims in the dossier.

So now the government puts together a dossier on the African community of Australia accussing them of crimes without any proof. The goes on and claims that those who call the governemnt racist because of their stand that we have no argument, yet the proof for us is in the very actions the government is doing, and has done for the last ten years they have held power.
Well perhaps the best way to retaliate this kind of government is exactly what ex Prime Minister Bob Hawke when at a dinner for the Korean community in Bennelong (John Howard's own seat) on Wednesday night said that every person of Asian origin in the seat of Bennelong should vote against the local member, Prime Minister John Howard.
For me though, it is quite apparent that the Australian government just doesn't have any understanding of different cultures. Perhaps all members of the current Australian government need to go back to school to learn about different cultures, in stead of making every Australain look like a total dweeb when it comes to other parts of the world.
Someone very dear to me once said that Americans are so into themselves that not even half the country could point on a map where Canada is (she is an American, just for the record.) I think to that now and just see how this government is trying to turn us all into something very similar. Like we are the centre of the universe and the world spins around us.
I read earlier today that the punters are backing a November 24th election. Being as how that is the last Saturday in of that month, I think they mgiht be right. Now I can only hope that every person of a different culture (I say that only because of how racism and xenophobia still run amok in the Australian community) here in Australia get out and vote the xenophobic government out, so together we can turn Australia back into the proud land she once was.
